Brown Bag Event Calendar
January 19 - 11th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service Food Drive
The 11th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service Food Drive is upon us. We are excited to collaborate with Center for Community & Civic Engagement at BGSU and our community. We are currently organizing this year’s canvas for nonperishable donations for local food pantries. We have had a wonderful response in previous years and hope to set a record with this year’s endeavor. The need for food donations in our area continues to grow. Food pantries, unfortunately, are always in dire need of donations.
Please help us to alleviate hunger for local families. We cannot do this without your caring and assistance. We need volunteers to help canvas in Bowling Green!
Volunteers will meet at Grounds for Thought (174 S. Main St.) at the beginning of their chosen shift (see sign up below) on either Saturday, January 19 or Sunday, January 20.
Please take a moment to sign up for a volunteer shift at the following link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70A084FACA828A6FB6-11th
Community members can help by having your canned goods ready to ensure we can knock on as many doors as possible. If you are not going to be home and want to donate, feel free to leave them on the porch and someone will come by to collect them (please let us know ahead of time to ensure that we make it to your area). If no one makes it to your door by 2pm on Sunday, please drop off donations at Grounds for Thought by 6pm OR call: 419-960-5345 for pick up.
Volunteer canvassers can also collect check donations: Make checks to "Brown Bag Food Project" and we will then distribute donations among participating pantries.
Thank you for making BG a caring community.
