About Us

Serving Wood County, Ohio since 2013

"They helped me so much with a mixture of fresh and shelf stable food. They even included a little bag of cat food for my fur baby and offered some practical non food necessities like soap and deodorant. The best part was how kindly they treated me."

History

Brown Bag Food Project was founded by Amy Holland in 2013, driven by her recognition of the significant lack of resources available to families struggling with food insecurity in the community. Witnessing firsthand the challenges faced by these families, Amy began assembling bags of food in her garage, determined to make a difference.

In 2015, the organization gained official recognition as a registered non-profit, reflecting its commitment to serving those in need. By 2016, Brown Bag Food Project opened a formal office, allowing for better organization and outreach. As demand for services grew, the organization quickly outgrew its initial space and relocated to its current location at 530 Sandridge Road in Bowling Green, Ohio.

What we do

Food insecurity is being unable to get enough nutritious food for an active and healthy life. Unfortunately, this issue affects numerous households in our community, and we believe that everyone deserves access to wholesome meals.

Our focus is to bridge the gap that many fall into from a lack of available resources and for those that do not qualify for other types of assistance. Out of the 13% of food insecure individuals in Wood County, 48% of those do not qualify for any outside help. These are the community members that need everyone to reach out and lend a hand.
